THE GENTLE RESET RETREAT

The Gentle Reset

A three-night retreat for those navigating grief, bereavement and loss, with grief counsellor Kate Nudds.

A little space when life has changed.

Grief can change everything.

Sometimes what you need isn't advice, answers or someone telling you it's time to move forward. Sometimes you simply need a little space away from everyday life, with people who understand.

The Gentle Reset is a three-night grief and bereavement retreat in the Essex countryside, created for anyone navigating life after loss.

Together with grief counsellor Kate Nudds of Grieve Then Achieve, we've created a few days of gentle support, nourishing food, nature, conversation and, importantly, time to simply be.

There is no expectation that you arrive ready to talk.

There is nothing you need to achieve.

And nobody is going to try to fix your grief.

Just come as you are.

Meet Kate

Kate Nudds | Grief Counsellor & Grief Coach

Kate is an integrative grief counsellor and grief coach specialising in bereavement, grief and loss.

Her approach recognises something we believe strongly at The Reset too: there is no single way to grieve.

Throughout your stay, Kate will gently guide sessions and conversations, creating opportunities to explore some of what you are experiencing in a supportive environment.

But The Gentle Reset isn't three days of sitting in a circle talking about grief.

There will be conversation when you want it.

There will also be walks, beautiful food, quiet afternoons, cups of tea, evenings around the fire and hopefully plenty of laughter too. Because experiencing grief doesn't mean every moment has to feel sad.

Space to talk. Space not to.

One of the most important parts of The Gentle Reset is choice.

There will be opportunities to take part in guided sessions with Kate and to spend time with others who understand something of what it means to experience loss.

You can talk.

You can listen.

Or you can simply be there.

If what you need one afternoon is to take a book back to your tent, go for a walk through the meadow or curl up under a blanket and sleep, that's completely fine too.

There is no right way to do this retreat, just as there is no right way to grieve.

What your days might look like

Slow mornings

Wake beneath canvas to the sounds of the countryside.

There's no need to rush. Start with tea or coffee before joining everyone for a relaxed breakfast.

Mornings will include gently guided time with Kate, giving you the opportunity to talk, listen, reflect and better understand some of what you're experiencing.

Spacious afternoons

We deliberately won't fill every hour.

There may be a gentle walk, a creative activity or another session with Kate, but there will also be proper gaps in the day.

Read.

Sleep.

Walk through the meadow.

Sit outside your tent with a cup of tea.

Talk to someone you've met.

Or do absolutely nothing.

Sometimes space is exactly what we need.

Evenings together

As the day slows down, we'll come back together.

We'll share good food around the table, talk, laugh and spend evenings around the fire when the weather allows.

Then it's a quiet walk through the meadow and back to your own tent for the night.

Your stay at Cedar

You'll stay in your own canvas bell tent, set amongst the meadow at Cedar in the Essex countryside.

Inside you'll have a proper bed, comfortable bedding and your own peaceful space to retreat to whenever you need it.

Step outside and you're straight into nature.

Open fields. Wildflowers. Big skies. Somewhere to walk, breathe and slow down.

We'll take care of the food, your accommodation and the little details.

For three nights, you don't need to look after everybody else. You can simply let us look after you.

Evenings around the fire

Some of the best conversations happen when nobody planned to have them.

As the evening draws in, we'll gather around the fire with something warm to drink and nowhere else we need to be.

You can talk about your day, share stories, laugh, listen, or simply sit quietly and watch the flames.

There is something about being outdoors together that makes conversation feel a little easier.

No agenda. No expectations. Just good company, fresh air and time to be yourself.

You may come to The Reset to move your body, but it’s often the quiet moments in between that you’ll remember most.

Food is part of The Reset too!

This isn't a retreat where you'll spend four days feeling hungry.

Food will be fresh, nourishing and generous, designed to complement an active few days without becoming restrictive.

We'll eat together, share meals around the table and make food one of the enjoyable parts of the experience.

Because looking after yourself shouldn't feel like punishment.

Food that feels like looking after you

Food is an important part of every Reset.

Expect fresh, nourishing and generous meals, shared around the table rather than eaten alone.

There'll be good breakfasts, relaxed lunches, comforting evening meals and plenty of tea, coffee and little things in between.

Nothing restrictive.

Nothing complicated.

Just really good food made to make you feel looked after.

Who is The Gentle Reset for?

The Gentle Reset is for anyone navigating grief or bereavement who feels they could benefit from stepping away from everyday life for a few days.

Your loss may be recent, or it may have happened years ago.

You might feel overwhelmed by grief, or you might simply find that life has never quite felt the same since.

You don't need to arrive at any particular stage.

You don't need to know what you want to say.

And you certainly don't need to have worked out what happens next.

You just need to come as you are.

What's included

Your three-night Gentle Reset will include:

  • Three nights' accommodation in your own canvas bell tent
  • Guided grief and bereavement sessions with Kate Nudds
  • Gentle activities and time in nature
  • All meals and refreshments
  • Evening time together around the fire
  • Plenty of intentionally unscheduled time
  • Space to rest, read, walk, talk or simply be

You don't have to have it all figured out.

There is no promise that three nights away will make grief disappear.

That's not what The Gentle Reset is about.

It's about giving yourself a little space.

Space to talk if you want to.

Space to remember.

Space to rest.

Space to laugh without feeling guilty about laughing.

And perhaps some space to begin finding your own way through whatever comes next.

The Gentle Reset with Kate Nudds

Three nights. Gentle support. Nature. Good food. Space to simply be.

Come as you are.
