Frequently Asked Questions

Everything you need to know before your stay at The Reset at Cedar.

Whether you're joining us for a hosted retreat, escaping to the countryside for a few nights, or thinking about bringing your own group to The Reset, we've answered some of our most frequently asked questions below.

About The Reset

What is The Reset at Cedar?

The Reset at Cedar is a peaceful countryside escape in Essex, created for people who want to step away from everyday life for a few days and properly reset.

You can join us for one of our hosted three-night retreats, including yoga, movement and wellbeing experiences, or simply book a bell tent and stay with us without taking part in a retreat at all.

We also welcome corporate retreats, private groups and retreat hosts who would like to create their own experience at The Reset.

Do I have to book a retreat to stay at The Reset?

Not at all.

You can come and stay at The Reset simply because you fancy a few nights away in the Essex countryside.

Book one of our beautifully furnished bell tents and spend your time exactly as you choose. Explore the local area, read outside your tent, go for long walks, enjoy slow mornings or simply switch off for a while.

There's no programme to follow and nowhere you need to be.

Our accommodation-only stays are separate from our hosted retreat experiences, so just choose the type of stay that suits you.

What's the difference between a retreat and an accommodation-only stay?

A hosted retreat includes a planned programme of activities and experiences, depending on the retreat you choose.

An accommodation-only stay gives you the freedom to enjoy The Reset at your own pace. You'll have your bell tent and access to our shared guest facilities, but your time is entirely your own.

If you love the setting but don't particularly want to join a retreat, this is the option for you.

Where is The Reset at Cedar?

The Reset is set in the Essex countryside, offering a rural escape while remaining accessible from London and the surrounding areas.

Full arrival instructions and directions are provided to guests before their stay.

How long are the retreats?

Our main hosted retreats are three-night stays, from Friday to Monday.

Each retreat has its own programme, so please check the individual retreat page for exact dates and what's included.

Is The Reset adults only?

Our hosted wellness retreats are designed as adult experiences, creating a peaceful environment where guests can properly switch off and enjoy some time for themselves.

Choosing Your Retreat

Which retreat is right for me?

That depends on what you need from your time away.

Our Yoga Reset combines gentle morning yoga, restorative evening practice and relaxing activities.

Our Active Reset is for guests who want to move, feel stronger and reconnect with their energy. It isn't a bootcamp – the emphasis is on feeling good rather than pushing yourself to exhaustion.

Our Gentle Reset offers a slower, nurturing experience with space to rest, reflect and simply be.

And if none of those sound like what you need right now, you don't have to choose a retreat at all. You can simply book a stay and make The Reset your own little countryside escape.

We also offer Corporate Retreats and the opportunity for groups and retreat hosts to Take Over The Reset and create their own experience.

Do I need experience to join a retreat?

No. You don't need to already be fit, flexible, experienced at yoga or familiar with retreats.

Our experiences are designed to be welcoming and approachable, and our hosts will help you participate at a level that feels comfortable for you.

Can I come on my own?

Absolutely.

You don't need to arrive with a friend or partner. Solo guests are very welcome, whether you're joining one of our retreats or simply booking a few nights away by yourself.

Do I have to take part in every activity?

No.

This is your reset.

We create a programme for you to enjoy, but you don't have to fill every moment. If what you need is an afternoon reading outside your tent, having a nap or simply doing nothing for a while, that's completely fine.

Accommodation

What is the accommodation like?

Guests stay in furnished bell tents set within the countryside.

Depending on the accommodation you choose, tents include comfortable double or king-size beds, crisp bedding and carefully considered natural furnishings.

Different tent sizes and occupancy options are available, including private tents and accommodation suitable for sharing.

Are there proper beds?

Yes. You won't be sleeping on the floor or on a camping mat.

Our bell tents have proper beds and comfortable bedding so you can enjoy being close to nature without the usual camping experience.

Do the tents have electricity?

The Reset has been designed as an off-grid countryside experience, so you shouldn't expect the facilities of a conventional hotel room.

It's part of what makes staying here different – an opportunity to disconnect from some of the noise of everyday life and reconnect with everything else.

Are there toilets and hot showers?

Yes.

Guests have access to shared toilet facilities and hot showers during their stay.

Are towels provided?

Towels are provided for guests attending our hosted retreats. Please check your accommodation booking for what's included with accommodation-only stays.

Is housekeeping included?

Our hosted retreat stays include daily housekeeping and a turndown service.

For accommodation-only stays, please check your chosen accommodation for the services included or available to add to your stay.

During Your Stay

What does a typical retreat day look like?

Every retreat is slightly different.

A day might begin with gentle movement or yoga, followed by breakfast and time to relax. There may be a planned activity during the day, with plenty of breathing space between sessions, before coming together again in the evening.

We deliberately don't want every hour scheduled. Having time to wander, read, talk, rest or simply sit outside is part of the experience.

What can I do if I'm staying without a retreat?

As much or as little as you like.

Explore the surrounding Essex countryside, discover local places to eat and visit, read, walk, sleep late or simply enjoy having nowhere you need to be.

We'll also share some of our favourite things to see and do nearby, so you can create your own stay.

Will there be time to myself on a retreat?

Yes – and we think that's important.

The Reset isn't about rushing from one activity to another. Our programmes intentionally leave space for you to enjoy the surroundings and decide what you need that day.

What happens if it rains?

We're in England, so we've planned for it!

Activities can be adapted according to the weather, and we have covered communal spaces where guests can gather, eat, relax and take part in sessions.

A little rain doesn't stop a reset.

What should I bring?

We'll send you a packing guide before your stay.

As a starting point, bring comfortable clothing, suitable footwear, layers for cooler evenings and anything personal that helps you relax.

Food & Wellbeing

Is food included?

Please check your chosen retreat or accommodation page for exactly what's included, as packages vary.

Can you cater for dietary requirements?

For hosted retreats where food is included, please tell us about dietary requirements and allergies when booking.

We'll always do our best to accommodate guests and will let you know if there is anything we need to discuss with you before your stay.

Can I book treatments?

Selected retreats offer optional treatments and wellbeing experiences.

These vary depending on the retreat and may include experiences such as massage or Reiki. Optional treatments are subject to availability and may carry an additional charge.

Booking Your Stay

How much does it cost?

Prices vary depending on whether you're booking a hosted retreat or an accommodation-only stay, your chosen bell tent and whether you're staying alone or sharing.

You'll find current prices and availability on the relevant retreat or accommodation page.

Do I have to pay the full amount when I book a retreat?

No.

A 50% deposit secures your retreat booking, with the remaining balance due 14 days before arrival.

Payment plan options may also be available – please contact us if you'd like to discuss this.

What is your cancellation policy?

Please read our full booking terms and cancellation policy before booking, as these form part of your reservation.

Is there a minimum number of guests for a retreat?

Some hosted retreats require a minimum number of guests to go ahead.

If a retreat doesn't reach the required number, we'll contact booked guests and explain the available options.

Getting Here

Can I get to The Reset from London?

Yes.

The Reset is in Essex and offers a genuine countryside escape without needing to travel across the country for it.

Detailed travel information, including recommended routes and local transport options, is provided before your stay.

Is parking available?

Yes. Parking is available for guests.

Full parking and arrival instructions will be sent before your stay.

Private & Corporate Retreats

Can companies book The Reset for a corporate retreat?

Yes.

The Reset offers corporate retreats designed to take teams away from their usual working environment and give them time to reconnect, think differently and spend meaningful time together.

We can help create an experience around your team's objectives rather than simply giving you a venue and leaving you to organise everything yourself.

Can I hire the whole retreat?

Yes.

If you're a yoga teacher, coach, wellbeing practitioner, creative, group leader or simply have an idea for a brilliant retreat, you can talk to us about taking over The Reset.

You bring your people and your idea, and we'll help you create the experience around them.

Can you help me create my own retreat?

Yes.

We love working with people who have an idea but don't necessarily want the headache of finding accommodation, organising the setting and piecing everything together themselves.

Tell us what you'd like to create and we'll talk through what's possible.

Still Have a Question?

We want you to feel completely comfortable before you book.

If there's something we haven't answered here, please get in touch with The Reset at Cedar and we'll be happy to help.

Sometimes you don't need a holiday.

You just need a reset.
